The magic of music

“Happiness, not in another place, but this place….not for another hour, but for this hour.”
Walt Whitman

I’m a glass-half-full person.

I can’t help but find the positive angle when someone else might see the negative.

And I must admit, even for an optimist, it all feels pretty tough going right now.

The negative press, worry sweeping the country and everybody feeling the pinch financially as inflation affects us all.

Even as a natural optimistic, we’re not averse to feeling those dark days.

I have always loved the analogy of a rainbow. The beauty that comes after a storm. We must simply weather the storm, learn how to handle it, grit our teeth and bear it.

It will be worth it to see those colours splashed across the sky afterwards.

And so, I’m focusing on enjoying the little things each day.

Finding joy in the “normal” parts of the day.

If you think this feels difficult, try spending time with a toddler.

Now, toddlers get a bad reputation for all of those tantrums. But take them out on a cold, rainy day. And see their pure delight when they can jump in a puddle or taste a raindrop on their tongue. They’ll stop and marvel at a dandelion sprouting from the ground or discover the BEST stone! Dogs are the same!

Try it yourself.

(I’m not saying you need to spend the morning jumping in puddles!)

Savour your morning coffee

Smell the crisp autumnal air

Wear something you love

Turn up the radio when your favourite song comes on
Music for me is a shortcut to instant happiness.

I feel that Magic FM is very aptly named because it magically transports me to the 80s and 90s and brings a smile to my face.

It fills my car or home with uplifting, nostalgic notes and can improve my mood in a beat.

What is your shortcut to happiness? Let’s spread the word and keep smiling.

Much love,

Sandrina
